Return To Earth
She bared her skin, again
But not before looking ‘round.
She dug her toes to bury her skin
Deep down in fertile ground
Cool black soil her transient refuge
She melted in earth’s nurturing embrace
She leaned back her head and closed her eyes
To forget her ugly face
She did not seek comfort there
For she knew
She would bleed
She would burst
She would ache
She would twitch
And turn
And in the end
‘Tis her own blood she would taste
She took root to release
all she held inside
to remember how to breathe,
Slow and deep with a thousand tears
It was her soul that she was there to feed
Earth spoke to her
Take rest dear child
I’ve awaited your return
It seems like a thousand years
I won’t leave your side
You’ve nothing to hide
Your ascension will be greater than all your fears
